TRIP UPDATE: Guess who is buying a one way ticket to kick start their adventure next payday? THIS GIRL! Wow, I’m actually going to buy a ONE WAY TICKET! That is so cool. Leaving October 1st from Chicago to Lima, Peru (It’s only $250! As my friend Stefanie would say, that’s amazeballz).

Want more exciting news? Well, too bad if you don’t because you’re getting it. I finally know where I will be volunteering first! I will be in Arequipa, Peru for two months volunteering at the Casa Hogar Luz Alba Orphanage, which operates solely on donations. They are handed abandoned children from the Government, but no money. So, thank you again. Your donation is much needed.

Which brings me to: For those of you who read this and donated, in October you will get to witness via this blog the orphanage receiving a fat check from your donations and pictures and video of all the children whose lives you are helping. Woo hoo! I dreamed this adventure up last summer, when it felt like a million years away, and now it’s starting to feel REAL and it’s scary and exciting. I can’t wait for my first two months of twelve hour days hand washing diapers, mopping floors and teaching English.
