Volunteer Update!
Man, I can’t wait to get to Sucre, Bolivia and start volunteering again. We have come across multiple mishaps making it take much longer than expected to get there: having to wait to cross the border into Bolivia for a week while the yellow fever shots kicked in, having to go to La Paz to get more passport pages added because I ran out (awesome problem) and now a strike in the area we were heading...

WatchWatch
I kept hearing The Little Mermaid’s “Under the Sea” randomly throughout Arequipa and I thought, “Gee, Peruvians must love this song.” Turns out their garbage trucks play it on repeat. Silly Peru.

I was awoken at 6:20am today because:
A) The sun was too bright. B) I was nervous to start my first day volunteer teaching. C) My Peruvian neighbor BLASTED Bon Jovi’s “Living on a Prayer” SEVEN times in a row. If you guessed C, congrats! You are correct! The movies tell us when traveling abroad you will wake up to exotic noises like chickens and cattle and honking, but oh no, it’s the epic ballads of Bon Jovi.

Humility Now: Counting others more significant.:... →
Humility Now is a non-profit organization committed to working with the homeless, not just for them. We believe in counting their needs over our own, and building relationships as a means of getting them off the street. For every shirt we sell, we’ll give a shirt to our homeless… Julio is the real deal. I met him via the internets while I was fundraising for the orphanages and...
